The atmosphere was loud and proud in the sold out HP Pavilion in San Jose as their Sharks beat the L.A. Kings 3-2 in overtime in Game 1 of the NHl Western Conference Quarterfinals.

San Jose Forward Dany Heatley scored quickly with the games first goal in the first 28 seconds of the game. The Sharks as a team owned the first period on offense and defense with superb puck play by all four Sharks' lines.

With a very active second period for scoring, we saw a total of 3 goals, two by the Kings and one by the Sharks, to tie the game up at 2 a piece. L.A.'s goals came from Dustin Brown on the power play and late in the second period by Justin Williams, who had an assist on the goal by Brown.

Neither team could take control in the third period as this clash of California rivals went to overtime. With a number of shots on target for the Kings, they couldn't capitalize as San Jose Forward Joe "The Big" Pavelski came through once again in the clutch with a beautiful wrist shot to win it for the Sharks 3-2 in overtime.

So you know, it's constantly adapting and trying to figure out what the fish are going to do next. Usually, there is some consistency with minor variations, but there are some days when it's dramatically different, where you have to scrap what you're doing and start from scratch.
