After being dealt a knockout blow the night before, New York overcame adversity and stuck it back to Philadelphia in their 3-1 victory over the Phillies in Game 2 of the World Series last night.
A. J. Burnett had a minor hiccup in the 2nd inning as he allowed an RBI single to Matt Stairs to give the Phillies a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately that was all she wrote for Philadelphia as Burnett was lights out for the rest of the game as he went 7 innings, allowing 4 hits, and 9 strikeouts.
Yankees were able to capitalize on two long bombs by Mark Teixeira and Hideki Matsui in the 4th and 6th innings. Jorge Posada had an RBI single in the 7th that sealed the deal for New York as they knotted up the fall classic to a game a piece.
Game 3 of the World Series is set for tomorrow night. Andy Pettitte will start for New York while Cole Hamels will get the start for Philadelphia.

Texans Defense Outlast The Cardiac Cats
(Photo / Bill Baptist)
A cohesive collective of great tackling and on the spot decision making hurled the fading Houston Texans past the rising Cincinnati Bengals 28-17 on Sunday.
The Houston defense was the story of the day as they executed with precision and did not allow last minute heroics from Carson Palmer and the Bengals. The Texans defense held the Bengals to 46 rushing yards and less than 300 yards of total offense.
Out of the 11 starters, it was rookie Linebacker Brian Cushing who shined overall. Cushing combined for 9 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception that sealed the win late in the fourth quarter.
The prolific performance of Houston's defense has only shown up to play for two games thus far this season. From week to week, how are we to know which defense will show? The show stoppers in Cincy, or the guys that allowed Running Backs Chris Johnson and Maurice Jones-Drew to combine for 431 total yards in weeks 2 and 3?
Either way, the Texans are now 3-3 and can either go north or south from here on the heels of their defense.
