(AP Photo / David J. Phillip)

Injuries plagued both teams in this one, but it was Jason Terry and the Mavericks who were successful as they beat the Rockets 96-86.

Jason Terry led the Dallas bench and team with 31 points, 18 of which were in the first half. Dirk Nowitzki
had a decent game with 24 points and 12 rebounds .

Rafer Alston and Tracy McGrady led the Rockets both with 16 points. Rafer Alston also had 5 rebounds and 8 assists to his credit.

Both teams were missing star quality players as Houston C Yao Ming and Dallas SF Josh Howard were both out because of ankle injuries. But it was Dallas who persevered and overcame adversity, on the road no less, to have a commanding victory against the first place Rockets. Dallas improves to 5-7 while Houston drops to 7-5. Even with the loss however, Houston still retains the top spot in the Southwest Division.
