New York looked as if they had the game in the bag. Surely it appeared that way with two outs in the 9th inning until Phillies CF Jayson Werth blasted a 2 run bomb off of Mets Closer Billy Wagner, his sixth blown save this season, to send the game to extra innings.
New York however took the game in hand in the 12th inning as RF Fernando Tatis hit a 2 run homer, his first home run since May, to give the Mets the win.
The Mets also had the long ball working for them early on as CF Carlos Beltran hit a solo home run to center field to give the Mets the lead at the top of the 3rd inning 1-0
Joe Smith(1-1) walks away with the win for the Mets, as Chad Durbin(2-2) receives the loss for the Phillies. Final game of this 4 game series starts tonight at 7:05 EST. New York leads this series 2-1.
